The Nigerian auto industry is set to witness a boost with the entry of a fully Nigerian auto company, the Nord brand of automobiles cutting across passenger and commercial vehicles. The five Nord models assembled in Lagos and unveiled are the Nord sedan A3; the Nord SUV A5; Nord Flit mini bus; Nord Max pick up; and Nord Tank pickup.

Nord Automobiles is a Nigerian automotive manufacturer with headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria that aims to produce an indigenous made-in-Nigeria automobile brand.

The company’s operations focus on delivering quality expertise in the value chain – which includes the design, sourcing, development, assembling, distribution, marketing, provision of sales and after-sales service of its unique Nigerian branded automobiles.

Nord fleet of Nigerian branded vehicles include the Nord Max, Flit bus, Aso truck, Lasgi big bus, Q3 sedan, Q5 SUV, Nord Yarn, Ben SUV and the Urban sedan.

According to Oluwatobi Ajayi, Chief Executive Officer of Nord Automobiles, the company aims to stop the importation of substandard vehicles into Nigeria, and to drastically reduce the huge amounts spent annually on automobile imports from overseas markets.

He stated that the fast-evolving Nigerian market has shown a strong demand for vehicles that are stylish, comfortable and have premium features, hence, Nord models have come to meet the demand. With the launch of these vehicles, he added, “we aim to exceed expectations by offering our customers world standard products at very competitive prices.”

The Nord assembly plant is located on a 2,100 square meters of land space in Sangotedo in Lagos, while and another one recently acquired and occupying 3,400 square meters of land at Epe is currently undergoing construction for the assembly complex in readiness to meet the growing automotive market and increasing customer demand.
